Policy and Design Checks for All-Ages Roblox Games

When building Roblox games for all ages or younger audiences, teams need to review content maturity, Kids and Select reach, social links, shop exposure, and paid random rewards before production.

Policy and Design Checks for All-Ages Roblox Games

Building a Roblox game for all ages is not only a creative decision. It is also a policy, exposure, and monetization decision.

For brand, IP, education, and younger-audience projects, teams should review content maturity, Kids and Select eligibility, social link visibility, shop configuration, and paid random rewards before production begins.

1. All ages is not just a marketing phrase

Publishing a Roblox experience does not automatically mean it reaches every age group in the same way.

Creators need to submit maturity and compliance information, and Roblox evaluates how the experience may be shown to different audiences. If the project aims to reach Roblox Kids or Select audiences, additional requirements and review considerations may apply.

Before production, teams should clarify:

  • Is the experience really intended for all ages?
  • Is younger audience reach part of the goal?
  • Would a 13+ or 16+ target be more appropriate?
  • Is the brand message suitable for younger users?
  • Can the monetization model work within Roblox policy?

2. Content maturity should be reviewed during planning

Content maturity is not a final checklist item. Combat, horror, hit reactions, chat, AI interaction, humor, gambling-like mechanics, and external links can all affect how an experience is classified or exposed.

All-ages projects should review:

  • whether blood or graphic violence is avoided
  • whether combat remains stylized and non-realistic
  • whether horror or threat is excessive
  • whether failure states feel appropriate
  • whether social links follow age restrictions
  • whether rewards create misleading expectations

3. Roblox Kids and Select require a separate exposure strategy

Roblox Kids and Select make audience targeting more important. Not every brand experience should aim for the broadest possible age range.

Brand and IP teams should decide:

  • whether younger users are part of the target
  • whether external communities or social links are needed
  • whether the campaign goal is visit, engagement, or conversion
  • whether IP usage terms and event windows are clear
  • whether the experience can remain compliant after launch

4. Paid random rewards need special care

Random rewards are common in Roblox games. But when they connect to Robux or paid virtual currency, they may fall under paid random item policy requirements.

Teams should check:

  • whether paid currency is tied to random outcomes
  • whether odds need to be disclosed
  • whether region or age restrictions apply
  • whether policy APIs are needed
  • whether item descriptions are clear to players

For collection RPGs, it can be safer to validate the first loop with free rewards first and add paid random rewards only after policy handling is designed.

5. Shops and IP usage affect brand games

Roblox shops, passes, developer products, and time-limited IP licenses can affect how a brand experience is presented and monetized.

Teams should review:

  • whether shop items support the game loop
  • whether listing names and categories match brand standards
  • whether IP usage windows are clear
  • whether assets must be removed after an event
  • whether purchases create pressure for younger users

6. METAMATE's production checklist

When METAMATE reviews a Roblox project, we look at production and policy together.

AreaProduction question
Target ageIs all ages, 13+, or 16+ the right target?
ContentAre combat, horror, humor, and rewards appropriate?
First loopCan the player understand the first goal quickly?
MonetizationDo shop and random rewards introduce policy risk?
Brand/IPAre brand elements expressed through gameplay?
LaunchWhat metrics and feedback will be reviewed after release?

Summary

All-ages Roblox production requires more than making a friendly-looking game.

Teams need to review maturity, Kids and Select reach, social links, combat and reward expression, shop design, paid random item rules, and IP usage scope before development goes too far.

METAMATE reviews Roblox policy and player experience together when producing brand games, original games, and educational Roblox worlds.
